AB-PMJAY Achieves 80% Coverage in Kashmir | KNO

Srinagar, Mar 02 (KNO): A total of 80 percent of the eligible population have been covered under Ayushman Bharat–Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB-PMJAY) scheme across Kashmir, figures revealed. As per the data accessed by the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), a total of 54,44,409 persons have been declared as eligible for the schemes in Kashmir. Till February, as many as 43,90,239 persons have been covered under the scheme, which makes up 80 percent of the total eligible beneficiaries for the scheme. Figures further revealed south Kashmir has recorded maximum registration under the scheme compared to north and central Kashmir. A total of 2736600 persons have been registered under the schemes in south Kashmir’s four districts till February this year. In Shopian, Pulwama, Kulgam and Anantnag 2,48,682, 4,36,112, 3,23,630 and 6,50,876 persons, respectively, have been covered under the schemes. In North Kashmir, where 1437863 persons have been covered under the schemes, Baramulla has 7,12,034 persons registered so far under the schemes. It is followed by 2,62,407 persons in Bandipora and 4,63,422 in Kupwara. In central Kashmir’s Srinagar, Ganderbal and Budgam so far 6,17,768, 2,06,775 and 4,96,374 beneficiaries, respectively, have been registered under the schemes. An official said they are expecting to ensure 100% coverage under the schemes “very soon”. “We have launched a mass awareness campaign throughout Jammu and Kashmir. The registration process is going on and very soon the left out population too will be covered under the scheme,” he said.
